A member of Calcutta's street people, those so poor that they have no
choice but to eat, sleep, bathe, shop and even entertain outdoors,
provides some sword-swallowing entertainment for the crowds who gather
each Sunday in a Calcutta park. This park, the Calcutta maidan, is a
vast, open area known as the "lings of the city" because it is believed
to contain the cleanest air in the Indian city's polluted downtown
